Painting is the mainstay of Beryl Robinson’s practice. She is fascinated by what happens when you study and paint an object repeatedly. The simplicity of a bowl of lemons becomes the focus for a meditation through the medium of paint. By working slowly, layering the paint, submerging and veiling details, Robinson draws the viewer to look and look again. “Painting is alive in its ability to use light to reveal the subject differently at every viewing.”
