Sophie Lascelles grew up with the Footsbarn Travelling Theatre. Her work is inspired by early vaudeville traditions of magic lanterns and optical toys and is predominantly photographic and film based. Her installations often have a sculptural basis with images projected onto objects or parts of a room. She creates landscapes that are physically real, yet suggestive of fictional spaces.
