Ulrike Stolte lives and works in Berlin. From 2D work, graphics and fabric collages, she has moved on to making crocheted sculptures. “Working with wool is thought of as a more domestic activity than drawing or painting and most people have a memory of their grandmother knitting. But this is not what my sculptures want to say; I am preoccupied with extraordinary flowers and plants which grow and mushroom. Each work takes on a life of its own.”
