Painter-printmaker Sandy Sykes works in series. Her work teems with ideas, connections and allusions – often bringing together present and past mythologies. She is drawn to themes of destruction and survival; the human folly of war, the tenacious way people manage to survive – these are obliquely and tenderly explored in Sykes’s recent series.
