The labyrinthine, blackly comic fiction of Flann O’Brien is a lodestone for Oona Grimes’s recent work. Using meticulously cut stencils and spray paint, Grimes has created a series of works entitled Flann’s architectural digest in which an uncommon syntax speaks: grids, walls, fragments of pattern, sausage shapes, yellow molecules, facades and hoarding boards float in deep darkness. A custard of characters fence their way through highly coloured liaisons.
